Winter in the Mile High City
Winter in The City // Britt Hemela, Media & Marketing Manager
As the temperatures drop, many Denver locals make their way to the mountains for skiing and snowboarding. But if you’re visiting Downtown Denver, there’s still plenty of fun to be had and things to do in the Mile High City. Check out some of our favorites below and visit Denver.org for more Winter fun ideas!
Denver Botanic Gardens You don’t have to drive around looking for lights, you can visit one of the most beautiful light shows just two miles from Hotel Teatro. Every year the Denver Botanic Gardens welcomes custom light displays, this year - Blossoms of Light will be up November 24th - January 1st and tickets are under $15. We love grabbing hot cocoa and snapping pictures in front of the beautiful (and even a little romantic) lights. This event does sell out, so be sure to buy tickets ahead of time.
Zoo Lights If you’re traveling with family, The Denver Zoo puts on a wonderful interactive display of lights, and zoo hours extend! Most animals are also still on display, but there are also illuminated sculptures throughout, making for a unique zoo experience. This opens December 1st and is open through December 31st. Ice Skating at Skyline Park Located just two blocks from Hotel Teatro, The City of Denver opens up a free ice skating rink - and skate rentals are just $2. Grab a snack at the mini concession stand or come back for a delicious dinner at The Nickel
Catch a Game Winter sports aren’t limited to snow capped mountains, The Denver Broncos, Nuggets and Avalanche all have active schedules throughout November, December and January - and both Pepsi Center and Mile High Stadium are within distance to take our complimentary car service (hotel guests only) Click the team names above to preview their schedule and secure tickets!
