RENOWNED DENVER CHEF KEVIN TAYLOR TO PARTICIPATE IN CAKEBREAD CELLARS’ 25TH ANNUAL AMERICAN HARVEST WORKSHOP

Taylor One of 51 Past Participant Chefs Worldwide Invited to Two-Day Culinary Event

DENVER, Colo. – Aug. 1, 2011 – Denver Chef Kevin Taylor will participate in Napa Valley Winery Cakebread Cellars’ 25th annual American Harvest Workshop, Aug. 18-20.

Throughout the course of its 25 years, the American Harvest Workshop has become the centerpiece of Cakebread Cellars’ acclaimed year-round culinary program, which includes frequent cooking classes and food events, led by culinary director Brian Streeter. Since the Workshop's inception, more than 300 of the nation's leading chefs, food purveyors and wine and food writers have participated. The American Harvest Workshop is the longest continuously-running winery culinary program of its kind in the Napa Valley.

“I’m honored to have been invited to attend this prestigious event,” said Taylor. “I enjoyed my last visit to the winery, and Workshop, immensely, and am honored to return, especially alongside so many outstanding chefs.”

This year, in celebration of the Workshop’s silver anniversary, Cakebread Cellars’ founders, Jack and Dolores Cakebread, have strayed from the usual itinerary, which normally includes hosting a select five chefs. Instead, the Cakebreads have invited all the chefs who have participated throughout the event’s history to attend the event, which includes two days of cooking, wine tasting and more. 51 of the invitees, Taylor included, are scheduled to attend. While invited chefs will travel from all over the world for the Workshop, including India, Ireland and Scotland, Taylor is only one of two from Colorado.

A cornerstone of this year’s American Harvest Workshop is the Grand Chefs Tasting, taking place throughout the winery on Friday, Aug. 19. At this walk-around tasting, the public will have the opportunity to meet the chefs and local purveyors, taste Cakebread wines and attend special seminars. Another highlight is the Gala Dinner, Saturday, Aug. 20, which includes a reception with passed hors d' oeuvres and a seven course meal. Sixteen chefs, in pairs, will participate in the Gala Dinner’s creation, with each duo collaborating on one course. Taylor will join with Chef Ken Frank of Napa Valley’s La Toque to prepare the sixth course, highlighting local purveyor Broken Arrow Ranch Venison, and Cakebread Cellars’ Dancing Bear Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon.

Taylor has been a fixture in Denver’s upscale dining scene since he emerged with his first concept in 1987. Currently, Taylor and his wife, Denise, operate five Denver dining restaurants, including the eponymous Restaurant Kevin Taylor, as well as a summer restaurant in nearby Central City, and two catering operations.
