GABF Tips + Tricks from a Denver Local

The Great American Beer Festival is right around the corner (it’s literally two blocks from Hotel Teatro too!) and the city of Denver is gearing up with tons of craft beer events in the making. Locals know it, but those visiting the Mile High City may be surprised to hear that we celebrate Denver Beer Fest the week before GABF hits Denver - which means there’s nearly two full weeks of awesome (and boozy) events taking place. Check out some local tips for making the most of your visit to Denver for GABF!

Scope out the breweries you want to check out beforehand

For craft beer connoisseurs, it’s always a good idea to go into GABF with a plan or list of breweries you want to check out. While the online list of participating breweries is presented alphabetically, the booths are typically organized by region. In the weeks leading up to the festival, the list linked above will include booth information - which is the perfect plan

Free events around town

Whether you missed out on buying your official Great American Beer Fest tickets or you’re just looking for a fun after party, don’t shootdown the free events taking place all over Denver. Visit Denver has a great list of events that different breweries, restaurants and other local businesses use to list their events. We love Tivoli’s annual “pre” party taking place on Wednesday October 4th - and be sure to check out The Brewtography Project’s first ever art exhibit right here at Hotel Teatro. Facebook Events is another great place to find out about the best happenings surrounding GABF!

Score Last Minute Tickets

Tons of local businesses do giveaways leading up to GABF - be sure to stalk local breweries and brands on social media for your chance to snag last minute tickets. Luckily, most locals and industry folks keep it fair and resell their unused GABF tickets at face value - the best places to find these are beer-centric Facebook groups, Stubhub and sometimes right out front of the Colorado Convention Center beforehand! A quick GABF tickets search on Facebook is another great way to find tickets up for grabs.
